Medhat Shafik,

an introduction to the artist through three questions 

We asked three questions to Medhat Shafik, who is an Egiptian artist based in Italy from many years who collaborated with with us from the early days of the gallery and saw us growing. Indeed, the first exhibition Shafik made with us was in 1994, while his Leone d’oro at the Venice Biennale in the Egiptian pavilion from 1995.

1-   Medhat, you were born in Egipt, however you live in Italy from many years now. How much your middle-east origins and the Italian culture do you think affect your work?

2-   When did you realise you would have become an artist?

3-   The human journey is the leading theme in your work. However, where does the inspiration on your work come from?
